General Information

The Atlanta Ballroom Challenge is a one day event where dancers are able to perform in a competitive environment while being adjudicated by our panel of judges. Dancers are able to perform in American Smooth and Rhythm as well as International Standard ad Latin in closed and open divisions.

In addition to a day full of dancing, we at the Atlanta Ballroom Challenge have two surprises to keep performers on their toes. They are the Wheel of Fortune and the Wild Card Rounds!

The Wheel of Fortune is brought out whenever the judges want to spice things up on the floor. The Wheel of Fortune is composed of alternative dances (think Peabody, Hustle, Paso Doble, etc.) that might not be as well known. Performers on the floor at the time must show the judges that they know the dance that the Wheel of Fortune lands on. Each couple that properly executes the dance from the Wheel of Fortune will win 10 points for their team.

The Wild Card Rounds occur at the discretion of the competing teams. At the start of the day the teams are given 6 bells that will signal a Wild Card Round once rang. At the start of a Wild Card Round the judges will randomly select a card with the name of a DanceVision syllabus movement. During the Wild Card Round, each couple that correctly demonstrates the movement will win 10 points for their team.

Medals for first and second place teams will be awarded.
